Dental Veneer Aftercare: Healing After Getting Veneers

Dental veneers are porcelain or composite resin shells that fit over the front of the teeth, correcting cosmetic imperfections. Their average lifespan is about ten years. After getting veneers, it is normal to experience some sensitivity to heat and cold, which should subside within a few days. Aftercare tips include: Avoid very hot, cold, or hard foods for the first few days. Practice excellent oral hygiene — brush twice daily with non-abrasive toothpaste and floss daily. Avoid habits that can damage veneers, such as biting nails or opening packages with your teeth. Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth. Limit staining foods and drinks, or rinse with water after consuming them.
