Everyday Oral Hygiene Tips From a General Dentist

Visiting your general dentist is not enough to maintain good oral health. You must practice good oral hygiene at home as well. Key oral hygiene tips include: Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Spend at least two minutes brushing, covering all surfaces of each tooth. Floss at least once a day to remove plaque and food between teeth. Use an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce bacteria. Stay hydrated. Limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months. Wear a mouthguard during contact sports. Do not smoke or use tobacco products. Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and exams.
