Chipping a tooth can come as an unwelcome surprise. Fortunately, cosmetic dentists have many ways to repair broken teeth. When should I see a dentist for a chipped tooth? (As soon as possible, especially if there is pain, sensitivity, or a large chip.) What are my treatment options? (Dental bonding for small chips, veneers for larger chips on front teeth, crowns for extensive damage.) A badly chipped tooth that reaches the pulp may require a root canal. Will my insurance cover chipped tooth repair? (It depends on whether the chip is causing functional problems — cosmetic repairs are usually not covered.)
