General Dentistry Repair Procedures for a Fractured Tooth

General dentistry often treats people for fractured teeth. When you fracture or chip a tooth, the dentist can often repair it. There are many ways to restore a cracked tooth, depending on your situation. For small chips or cracks, dental bonding using tooth-colored composite resin can restore the tooth's shape and appearance. For more extensive damage, a veneer may be placed on the front of the tooth. For teeth with significant structural damage, a dental crown is placed over the tooth to protect and restore it. If the fracture extends to the root or pulp, a root canal may be needed before the crown is placed. In cases of severe fracture where the tooth cannot be saved, extraction followed by an implant or bridge is recommended.
