How Often Do You Need a Dental Cleaning From a General Dentist?

Visiting your general dentist for a dental cleaning is important for your oral health. For most people, the recommended frequency is twice a year, or every six months. However, some patients with a history of gum disease or other oral health issues may need cleanings every three to four months. Professional dental cleanings remove tartar buildup that cannot be removed by brushing and flossing at home. The dentist or hygienist also polishes the teeth and checks for signs of cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer. Consistent professional cleanings help prevent dental problems and keep your smile healthy.
